It's a good thing I took all the good stuff for myself yesterday or I'd be really upset.
We all had a great Halloween this year.

I made her hat with my very own crochet hook. It was the third thing I've ever crocheted.

My kids love me so much. When we went trick-or-treating they asked me why I wasn't getting any candy; I started crying and told them that I guess nobody likes me. They both shouted, "WE LIKE YOU, MOM!!" and handed me over their buckets.
About twenty kids showed up at my door around ten o'clock Halloween morning. They were all dressed as kids who had just woken up, wearing their pj's and milk mustaches with lucky charms stuck to their faces. I told them it was too early, I didn't have my candy ready yet, and to come back later.

I could have just given them some candy but I hadn't sorted it out yet.
I bought a huge bag of fruity tootsie rolls
but still needed to pick out all the nasty vanilla ones to give away.

I didn't want to accidentally hand out a delicious lime or orange candy, I just love them so much.
Today when I went outside I saw a couple pieces on the ground, unopened.
I feel kind of bad, so next year I'll be sure to give out something good, like smarties or ramen noodles.

I agree, those vanilla ones are nasty! but all the other fruity ones are so magically delicious. The hat you made, the kitty one looks SO great! You should eat an extra piece of candy to congratulate yourself on it.
That Hello Kitty is pretty darn adorable.
And since I love children so much, and am concerned about their health and well being, we decided to give out nothing. It's for the children!
I'm pretty sure it would have taken me more than 3 tries to get the (so adorable) hello kitty hat right. I am crochet-impaired. It's a real condition.

I'm impressed your costume involved crocheting. All of ours involved borrowing and the dollar store. And we trick our children into giving us half their candy; the Great Pumpkin lives. :)

I had to save Hazel's life about 5 times today (peanut M&M, large Laffy Taffy, etc.) No nap for me. There seems to be no location in our house high enough that she won't find a way to get to the candy buckets.
Speaking of nearly dying, Henry also almost choked on a candy wrapper until he gagged so hard he vomited it loose.
Then we (and my "we," I mean Dean) let Hazel have pomegranate Jell-o at dinner, and she didn't like it but did spread it through her hair, under her legs, and anywhere else she could reach from her high chair.
Oops, I didn't mean to go on and on about what a wonderful holiday it was. (And I haven't even told you yet about how Hazel got on the counter and sat in the butter--but that was 2 days ago, so it's old news).
Your kids' costumes are great--congrats on persisting on the adorable Hello Kitty hat.

I guess I'm just a traditionalist. I prefer the original, pseudo-chocolate tootsie rolls.
